SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER.

Well, almost!

I had my final three classes on this gorgeous day at the end of April!

I think I'm going to go celebrate by studying for my FIVE finals.. at least I can do it outside!

Also, happy 20th birthday to one of my amazing friend's Amanda! I hope you enjoy the cookie cake from the Bakery, dear! Sadly, I didn't make it, but I know just from working there that it is quite delicious! <3

Harry's Wondrous World.

Ohh man it's getting so close to finals.

Unfortunately, I have five this semester. :[ I've never had more than three, not including papers, so I'm really nervous. I am pretty lucky that my finals are spread out over four days, except the fact that the one day I have two in a row, they start at 7:45 in the morning. :[ Good news is though, I only have one graveyard shift left at the Bakery, and it's after all of my difficult finals are done!

I'm not exactly excited for this semester to be over, I just want these exams to be over with!

Also! It needs to be July 15 right now! :D :D :D

It goes like this the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift.

 "The baffled king composing Hallelujah."
^^this song is stuck in my head

Happy Easter everyone! I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday weekend, considering finals are approaching at a fairly rapid pace. I went home for the first time since Spring break, which was also the only other time I had gone home all semester. It was really nice to see my family, especially because my brother turned 15 today! He's finally taller than me, too, why is he getting so old?!

Overall though, it was a pretty relaxing weekend. NHL playoff games were on television from 12pm to 1:30am on Saturday, so when I wasn't outside soaking up the sun, I was camping out in front of my television enjoying my favorite professional sport.

I also decorated Easter eggs! Once I upload the photos from my camera, I will make sure to share them with you.

But! I must depart because I picked up a shift at the bakery for 4am tomorrow morning. I'm kind of crazy, I know.. Goodnight!

I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride it where I like.

Let's face it: bicycles are a hazard on this campus.

Student bikers simply just do not pay attention to where they are heading, how fast they are going, and are, more often than not, completely unaware of their immediate surroundings. I've seen so many bikers with headphones on or a cell phone or cigarette in their hand. All of these things are distracting to the biker, just like they are to anyone driving a motorized vehicle. Obviously though, it is much more dangerous for a car driver to be distracted from the road since it is going much faster in a much heavier object and is subjected to the laws of physics and momentum, but that doesn't mean that these concepts do not apply to a biker on the sidewalks.

This rant originated from a bike accident that I witnessed today and was ALMOST a part of. My friend and I were walking in the small area between Wells Hall and the International Center when two bikes collided head on right next to us. One of the bikers fell right onto my friend's left leg hitting her thigh, calf, and ankle. She stumbled off with some vicious bruises and a slight limp, while both of the bikers were scraped up from falling directly on the cement. ALL OF THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF PEOPLE WOULD JUST PAY ATTENTION TO THE PATH THEY ARE TAKING. I mean, my friend was involved in this stupid accident, and she was just a vulnerable pedestrian!

I mean, I've been in a few accidents myself:

1. Once because a girl was walking IN THE BIKE LANE AND WALKED RIGHT INTO ME. That was not cool. She gave me the dirtiest look, like it was my fault I hit her.
2. Once because I was biking on the right side of the sidewalk when an oncoming biker PASSED A PEDESTRIAN ON THE LEFT (yeah, you're never supposed to do that, ever) and collided head on with my front bike tire. That wreck bent my brake and prevented the brakes from working for the rest of the semester. Needless to say, I was livid for having to pay for my bike to get fixed when I was the victim and the other biker walked away unscathed.
3. On the third occasion, I was crossing a two-laned, one-way street that pulls out onto Shaw Lane near Holmes when I got hit by a car. There was a car in the closest lane to my left that was allowing me to cross so I pedaled forward, but the car coming up in the second lane didn't see me so the driver continued to pull forward PAST THE CROSS WALK AND RAMMED THE BACK TIRE OF MY BIKE. I just barely was able to maintain my balance but the brakes broke and the back tire was bent from the collision, so once again, I had to go to MSU Bikes to pay to get it fixed.

Thankfully, none of these accidents caused serious injury, but I've heard more horrid stories of people getting hit on their bikes while leisurely riding around campus.

Just watch where you're going people! Nothing is more important then your safety and of those around you.

It's the best day ever.

Well, YESTERDAY, was the best day I've had in a long, long time. :]

First of all, this past week began the first round of the road to the Stanley Cup for the sixteen NHL teams at top of the league. I watched the first Red Wings game vs. Coyotes on television while simultaneously doing homework and streaming four other hockey games online. Yeah, so I kind of really like hockey.. :p

Anyway, my friend Shannon texted me after the game (which the Wings won, by the way!) and asked me how much I would be willing to pay to attend the second game of the series at Joe Louis Arena on Saturday. Now, I've been to a few regular season games, but I have ALWAYS wanted to watch a live playoff game, no matter what round of the series it is. The only reason I haven't gone to one yet is this: transportation. You're probably going to laugh at me for this, but I do not have my driver's license.

This isn't because I've gotten it revoked or put on probation, no worries about that, I've just never actually acquired a license. I know, I know, I'm nineteen years old, I should probably have one by  now, but I simply don't enjoy driving. That's why I've put this off for so long. Don't fret though, it is mandatory that I get it this summer, so I will be practicing driving as soon as I get home on May 6. :]

Back to my original story, so I've never gone to a playoff game in Detroit just because I've never been able to get there. Detroit isn't far from my hometown either, nor is it from East Lansing, but I've never known any other Red Wings fan crazy enough who would want to pay the increased prices for a playoff ticket compared to a regular season one, and who also wouldn't mind taking a day trip to southeast Michigan. At least not until I came to Michigan State. :]

I told Shannon I would be willing to pay anything that isn't absolutely absurd, as long as she could get us there. She then told me that she found a set of eight $30 tickets in the upper deck.

I. Was. Ecstatic.

We filled the other six seats quickly enough. Our huge group of friends from Wilson decided, "hey, why not?" so we purchased the tickets that night. After service fees and delivery charges, the tickets only came up to about $43 each, which is less than what I've paid for a regular season game. Yeah, the tickets were cheaper because they were in the sixteenth row in the upper deck, but I tell people this all the time: there is no bad seat in the Joe. There's no obstructions, the levels are raised just enough where you're not too high up like at a football game, and the arena is small enough so it gets LOUD. We lucked out.

We left at 9am yesterday morning, arrived at 11:30am after making a few stops along the way, ate at Five Guys in Greektown, and managed to pick up the tickets and get into the arena by 1pm when the game started. Shannon and I were the biggest Red Wings fans of the group, so we were hyper and excited all morning long, but when we finally sat down in our row, it hit me that I was actually at a Red Wings playoff game. The Detroit Red Wings have made twenty consecutive post-season appearances, and I was finally there. I don't think anything could have topped yesterday. :]

Shannon and I, cutest Red Wings fans! :] <3

Pregame, regarding our 20 years in the playoffs!

Al the Octopus! :D

My favorite floor: Duncan, Eric, Mike, Evan, Geoff, Jeff, Shannon, and I. <3

My boyfriend, Evan, and I at the game! <3

Oh, did I forget to mention that the Red Wings won 4-3? :]

I'm walking on sunshine.

I experienced the CRAZIEST weather this weekend.

Friday: it was relatively cool outside. Not freezing enough for snow, but it definitely cooled down at night.

Saturday: left for Muncie, Indiana at 5am. It was still pretty chilly then, especially since there was an expected storm coming across the Midwest. At 10am (EXACTLY when MSU's first quidditch match was schedule for) it decided to start raining. Now, the pitch was already a mud pit, but this just added to the fun. It kept raining until 2pm that day, and the games had to be delayed and shortened because of thunder and lightning sightings. To put it into perspective, my tennis shoes were grey and blue when I arrived in Muncie, but they were pure brown when I left.

Ew. Mud.
I haven't been this muddy since I was five years old..

My wonderful team (or at least part of them).
Absolutely CAKED in mud.

So after getting all muddied up, Mother Nature decided to bring a warm front through to bump up the temperature to about 70 degrees! That's a huge difference from 35 degrees and cold rain in the morning of the same day. I can't say I've ever experienced such a drastic change in weather before in less than 24 hours. I mean, Michigan is pretty bad sometimes, but nothing like that. I DID find out later that night that I got a pretty sweet sunburn on my face and neck, which was only aided to by today's weather..

Sunday: Eighty degrees? Really, eighty degrees?! I'm pretty sure nobody got there homework done today, myself included. One of my friend's Facebook statuses from today said,"There is literally a beach party happening right outside my window. " He lives in South Complex with myself and we have the PERFECT courtyard for laying out on towels or playing frisbee, soccer, football, lacrosse, catch, and volleyball. It was simply so gorgeous oustide!

I really hope that this weather stays, (with a few intermittent storms, just to cool things down at night.) That would just be lovely to have for the rest of the semester.

I'm addic- I'm addicted to you.

So I JUST got the Angry Birds app yesterday for my Android phone, and I finally understand where all the hype is coming from. It's just simply one of those addicting, mindless games that you can find yourself playing for hours if there is nothing better to do. Mind you, I had an exam to study for, so I played this and a couple of other Android App games on my study breaks.

I'm glad these games a free. I don't think I would have them otherwise. Oh, the life of a poor college student. :p

Don't rain on my parade.

What in the world was going on with the weather today, East Lansing?

It wasn't beautiful this morning when I left for class at 9AM, but it was nice and warm with a cool humidity that means it's starting to become Spring. But over the course of the day, the temperature dropped about 12 degrees and it got super windy outside! Why couldn't the rain have just stayed? It's much better than the snow and hail we got yesterday morning..

I absolutely love the smell of rain, though, and the sound of birds chirping in the early hours of the morning. It  was an excellent way to wake up today. Thunderstorm watching is also one of my all-time favorite activities, so I hope we get a good one soon!

Sometimes East Lansing seems to have this bubble around it that resists intense weather, like a huge storm we were supposed to get last Spring or the snow storm from just a few months ago..

For the Horde!

"What do we want?
"BRAINS."
"When do we want them?"
"BRAINS."

Friday marked the end of the campus wide event "Humans vs. Zombies" at Michigan State.

I'm torn: on one hand, I will be getting a significant amount of time back that will be devoted to doing important things like school work and picking up shifts at the bakery, both good considering it is close to the end of the semester, but, it also means I will not have any specific reason to run around campus getting to know a bunch of new people.

I met so many new people through this game, whether they lived on or off campus, in my complex or across campus. Many of them are similar to me, too. This brought a bunch of people from a school of 47,000 and reminded them that sometimes it's okay to be 7 years old again by playing a giant game of tag with nerf guns. What could be a better stress relief than that?

Being only the second time MSU has done this, the amount of people participating nearly doubled from about 400 in the first game to 750 in the second. The Mods, students who regulated the missions and rules, only expect this number to increase exponentially, and I believe it. Every time I walked around outside with an orange bandana around my head, someone walking by would ask me what in the world I was doing or even if they could join the game.

Sometimes I just don't believe that college can be THIS fun. :] Now I cannot wait for the next game this Fall!
