I'm not going to sit here and be all cliche saying that Christmas is my favorite time of year, because truly, it isn't: Fall is my favorite. Right now, it's too cold, the sun doesn't shine as often, the roads are always slick, and you have to wear four layers of clothes plus boots and hats and gloves just to walk down the road to class. Yeah, not my kind of thing.
What I will tell you though, is that Christmas is a beautiful holiday tradition that I always seem to take for granted. I am blessed to be able to celebrate Christmas more than once with not only my immediate family, but with my extended family as well. But this year, it's been a little different. Normally, I would have spent the past couple of days baking cookies and wrapping presents at my mom's parent's house up north. Sadly, this is the first year without them, so the day has been a little out of sorts.
What I have discovered though, is the development of new traditions that I can enjoy with my family for years to come.
Merry Christmas everyone, enjoy the day, the food, the family. Enjoy life, and God bless.
